Riddle Me This..

Why is that those from other countries and cultures can learn to speak to English, then turn around and be able rap/sing in it better than most of us can? We need to do better..

FUCK YOU

THIS IS THE LIST OF FUCK YOUS FROM 2008:

I'm really not a hateful person nor do I find myself getting mad often if at all, but with that I do turn the cheek on a lot of things a lot of normal-attituded people would raise their fists at.. So all that built up hatred has to circumvent somewhere right? Well, this is my list of shit that seriously erk'd me in the past year, some is minimal crybaby shit, while others should have made me punch holes through walls. Whatever the case may be, it is kind of fun to let it all out before the mark of the New Year, if you want to add something please leave a comment and let out all of that aggression before we start a great year..

~ This is in no specific order, just whatever pops in my head

Losing $400 dollars over a plane ticket to go to Ireland from London. The girl that I liked fucking one of my best friends behind my back and pretending that I wouldn't find out. My mom losing my winter jackets.. Getting a C- in a class about Africa, when I AM AFRICAN!.. Professors who think they're an expert on foreign culture.. Getting super wasted off of Whiskey and then finding out I had to work the next morning @ 9am.. Getting my laptop stolen from my own crib, while I was at work when all of my roommates were home.. Running out of money in Paris and being stuck at the airport with no means to go anywhere and not being able to speak any french.. Dudes who be sleeping on your couch and eat all your food, dand take shots of all of your drink, but dont even want to throw down a little money here and there for rent, but are ready to throw down to any other motherfucker trying to buy a sack.. FUCK YOU. anything that starts before 10 am.. Minnesota's liquor laws, preventing purchases on Sunday and .. Getting hated on by door people for being underage, man just take my fuckin fake ID and shut up, stop fronting like you weren't on the same shit I was on when you were my age.. When I find my homies in the clothes that I thought I lost years ago, and they want to act like you have to give it back to them over some crazy statue of limitation okay-to-steal-clothes clause i wasn't breifed on. FUCK YOU.. Groupie girls who try to jump on everything (mainly your friends) and always want to know what you're "doing..." the motherfuckin ression.. then all those who blame all of the reasons why they're losing in life on the aforementioned recession, yet they were losng well before that.. having to pay for college tuition by yourself, and working 45 hrs a week to compensate.. cars breaking down, and mothe fuckin mechanics trying to overcharge a nigga just so they can peep under the hood and tell you whats wrong, and then still want to overcharge you.. FUCK YOU.. those bitches who barely spoke to you back in the day, and now they want to hang out hardcore.. People who owe you money and then when you finally ask them for it they try to barter and bring up all the slices of pizza they have given you over the year or shots of alcohol they gave you.. when subway runs out of chicken and won't compensate for another swineless 5 dollar sub.. urban outfitters not taking back some unworn shoes after 1 fucking week of purchasing them, then trying to vocally put you on blast and make you feel bogus for returning shit in the first place? lame ass photographers who think that anything or anyone they shoot with a DSLR makes them a professional photographer?! when people tell me that I should save some money up and get a digital camera, when I DO HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA, and fuck you for telling me to save money anyways, my bank account compared to yours will make you reassess your words.. when people front like they're going some place, then when you ask them if they're still trying to go then they remember 100 reasons why they can't, stop FRONTING.. When guys try to brag to me about which girls are text messaging them or are potentially down to fuck? That shit is so lame man, kill yourself for that..

Some Ill Photos from The Past

My photojournalism professor educated me on some OG photographers from back in the day, so I took a break from viewing all the new stuff that's been out and have been taking a look back

I Can't Complain

My finals for the semester are finally finished, and I aced those motherf***ers so I can't be mad! Despite two cars breaking down on me in the last two weeks, and finding out I'm receiving a "C" in an Anthropology/Sociology class about Africa! (I am African ((Nigerian to be specific)) if you don't know.) I was told I don't have a well-rounded interpretation of African culture and society, (not that I haven't lived there or anything for 3 months in the village and Lagos! And 2/3s of my family live in Nigeria, and my parents are your stereotypical African parents). I'm sorry that my version of "Africa," doesn't include everyone having flies on them, and starving to death? Worst thing is that it came from an old white professor, STUFF WHITE PEOPLE LIKE, made me feel better because they've covered this in a post that you should check out HERE. (http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/01/23/20-being-an-expert-on-your-culture/)

Anyways, didn't I mention I'd be partaking in some fashion bloggery??
~ My roommate, had one of his homie's from highschool visiting from Gary/Merrillville, Indiana and he brought with him a pair of Black Suede Timberland boots with him. It's been said that every black guy needs atleast one pair of Timberland Boots on hand at all times, especially living in snowy Minnesota. For one reason or another (theives/roommates) I've been down three pairs in the past two years. And throughout this winter I've been roughing it out with Nike Dunks, and converse all-stars, Vans :( So when I saw what he had on I quickly asked him if I could cop them, he obliged. I was ready to throw
$75, going price $130 on the internet, but he threw out a purchase price of $25 or $30 if I had it on me :) hahaha. Sent him home in some ADIDAS.

Oh yeah, that's Bowie. My lucky David Bowie shirt which I think I purchased in Prague, CZ or just east Saint Paul? I get that and the Freddy Mercury shirt mixed up lol.. I had to wear it for finals tho so Ziggy Stardust could grant me the kind of luck only a StarMan can provide yaddamean.

I miss riding my bike everywhere, it rarely let me down... This picture doesn't do justice, because you can't really tell how much snow we really have on the ground right now.. not fun.. but those boots will definitely help don't you think?

Does this help?

Get Em' Gurl!

My homie sent me this video which at first had me laughing, then it had me mad, then sad, but happy again. I mean, people choose to work here and they make enough money off tips to live comfortably and do whatever. It's just the racial and aspect that kinda jerks me a little bit. But I guess one mother put her daughter through Northwestern with the money, and others seem to be doing fine, but at what cost. Either way next time I'm in Chicago, I'm trying to eat @ The Weiner Circle and have the girls behind the counter belittle me for wearing skinny jeans or some shit, and call me a bourgeious nigga. Yeah, that sounds about right. lol

This is what I was going to post on here before my homie sent me the link.. If I get bored at night I look up old videos of Morrissey or Prince playing live. Loser, I know, don't remind me.

The Top 11(ish) Artists I Listened to in 08'

1. Wale. He has a lot of good things going for him, despite coming from D.C. ;o.. Amazing lyrics and wordplay, an across the genre appeal and strong following already while still keeping it "real." Your favorite rapper's, favorite rapper. Raised by nigerian parents just like me, a sneaker and fashion head like me, and homies with Mark Ronson. Not like me ;( but hey maybe someday haha.

LISTEN TO HIM HERE

2. Lightspeed Champion. An awkward, yet extremely clever musician with a knack for Morrissey-esque balladss of failure and young love, even if it never pans out the way they wished. I was a huge fan of Test Icicles, and after they broke up I was curious to know what would become of the members, especially DEV. So I was very suprised to see Dev go the route he did, and make the music he did, because between two of his projects the similiaries are null if any. He's mentioned that he's going to release another project of his where he raps, so I'm really anxious to hear that. His sense of style is questionable, but nonetheless extremely unique such as his music. Check him out!

No Surprise (For Wendela) Midnight Surprise - Lightspeed Champion

3. Matt and Kim. A Brooklyn duo, who I believe are dating? But more importantly, they make some really fucking unique and happy music, and are always happy performing it. Real simple set up with Kim on drums, and Matt on the boards. I don't know how they do it, or why the hell they're so got-damn happy, but I love them nonetheless and have been bumping them for a miiinute.

Yea Yeah - Matt and Kim
4. Chi-Town Rappers: Cool Kids, Hollywood Holt, Mic Terror. Chicago has the hipsterhop genre on lock, though they'd never call themselves that. Definitely a breath of fresh air in the stale hip-hop game that has been saturated with a lot of rappers that don't deserve the shine they get. I don't want to hate on other people's tastes, but come on S------ B--?! For reeaal?

5. Lykke Li. Amazing vocals, immaculate style, good lyrics, and an awesome entrepreneur and self-marketer. An all around cool ass Scandinavian.

6. The Cure. I know, I know. They've been out longer than I've been alive, but I recently got a hold of their old songs as well as their new CD and I almost love them as much as The Smith, keyword on "almost." They're one of those groups that you've heard a lot growing up, but never knew it was them who was behind the music. It's become a hobby trying to accumulate their whole discography and watch their vintage live-sets, etc. It's crazy that they've been around and are still making some actually good albums. If you haven't already, download their old stuff as well as tracks off of 4:13 Dream. There's something about Robert Smith's eery vocals that really makes me want to sing a long, not to mention the lyrics are superbly written and iconic.

The Perfect Boy - The Cure

7. Santogold. You already know about her, don't front.

Youll Find A Way (Remix) - Santogold

8. Fleet Foxes. You may not know this, buuut i'm a sucker for folk-music. Even though the Fleet Foxes are more pop than actual folk, i'll take a good hybrid mix just as welll. A lot of my friends don't even listen to indie music, let a lone boring folk but when you're chillin' out doing homework, designing, editing, nothing is more soothing than some light guitars and smooth harmonic vocals, you'll rarely hear that when listening to electronica or hip-hop.

Your Protector - Fleet Foxes

9. PROTON. 1 rapper from Chicago + 1 rapper from Atlanta. Great style and lyrics. They make the songs that If I rapped I'd want to say haha. I fux wit em.

Magzine Dreamz - Proton

10. GIRL GROUPS: Girls In A Coma, Uh Huh Her, Zooey DeSchanel (notagirlgroup). I like girl vocals, all these groups make great music, check em out.

Their Cell - Girl In A Coma

11. The Hood Internet & Hey Champ Djs. 2008 was definitely the year of the mash0up and electronica. These two Chicago dj duos made the best according to me. If you're not familiar, think Girltalk, but actually bearable and less attention defitic. Mixing up some awesome hiphop artists with some obscure yet equally as good indie-acts. Sounds like music to my ears; naturally.

THE HOOD INTERNET

T-Pain (ft. Lil Wayne) - Can't Believe It (Hey Champ DJs ft. DJ White Shadow)
